One of the basic amenities that modern technology can provide us with at home is the possibility of convenient heating control. You do not need to manually control the valves from the water to set the temperature "by eye". Just use the Heatit Z-Temp2 thermostat.
Temperature control should be simple, and the controller itself should look good. Thanks to the Z-Temp2 product made available by Heatit, I can check if their smart thermostat performs both functions. It is already another thermostat from this companywhich I have the opportunity to test.
Smart thermostat Heatit Z-Temp2 - appearance
The controller has the shape of a cuboid with dimensions of 85 mm x 85 mm x 15 mm, which is very similar to a light switch. There is only one color version in the Heatit offer, but in a very popular style - white gloss. It is not a device that is out of sight in normal operation. On the contrary, it is very nicely made and can easily be placed on a visible shelf. So it is a pity that it is not possible to match the color. Nevertheless, it will work very well in modern interiors.
Heatit Z-Temp2 - installation and operation
The thermostat can be screwed to a typical flush-mounted box with the screws provided, or you can use the enclosed double-sided tape to stick to a flat surface. It also works well as a free-standing display. It is powered by three AA batteries, which are also included.
In order for the thermostat to work fully, it needs something to control. Thanks to the Z-Wave protocol it uses, it is possible to communicate with other devices using the same protocol. You can associate the controller directly with the actuators on the water heating valves or the relay of the furnace or electric heating. Its operation definitely facilitates the use of a switchboard such as FIBARO Home Center 2. Thanks to this, you can use temperature measurement from devices that are located in other rooms and control various thermal circuits. The thermostat supports up to five independent relays.
In addition to the Z-Temp2 temperature, it also measures air humidity, and this can be used to control the humidifier.
The current measurement is shown in the center of the display, while the setting is in the top right corner. Built-in light and motion sensors let you automatically adjust display brightness and turn the screen on and off. In addition, the screen can be protected against unwanted interference using a parental lock.
